can the bamboo sticks that you buy at walmart and petsmart grow underwater with fish?
Can bamboo grow underwater?
lucky bamboo is not bamboo -- its a popular houseplant called dracaena. it is a swamp plant and will not grow completely submersed but will take a long time to die as its super hardy. i have a bunch of artificial lucky bamboo i got for my aquarium and don't use anymore.
it looks like this --

Reply:Try to make sure the tops of it get plenty of air and some uva uvb(sunlight)
Reply:yes but the top needs to be out of the water.
Im not sure what size tank you have but when the bamboo starts to grow the root system gets big and it starts to get heavy I now someone that had bamboo in there 300gal tank and it blew the bottom out from the wait of it over time.
Reply:No, bamboo is not a water plant. Leaves out of the water or otherwise, its stalk and roots, anything that is in the water, will slowly rot and foul the water. I have fake bamboo in my tank and it looks great and I can be assured that it won't rot or die. This is yet just another reason why we should avoid buying anything live from these chain stores. They are out to make a buck, regardless of whether it's in the best interest of your aquarium.
Reply:yes it can just make sure its gets proper lighting and and has access to the air
get well flowers
