I swear I cleaned out the lucky bamboo's water bowl a week ago. Today, I noticed these black worms swimming in it. They are very tiny. I was wondering ... I use my fresh water aquarium water to water the bamboo plant. Did these come from the aquarium or is it possible some bug layed eggs in the plant?

What are these black worms in my lucky bamboo water bowl?
Oh... those look to me like mosquito larva... you might want to empty it out or you could have some unwanted visitors...

Reply:definitely mosquito larva. They will change into a different form and a few days later emerge as mosquitoes in your home if you don't get rid of them. Some diseases get transfered to eggs and the eggs can survive for years out of water so if the bamboo came from the tropics, it would be very wise to make sure you dispose of them all.
Reply:look like mosquito larvae.
Reply:Whatever they r throw them down the toilet and bleach that bowl fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Those are indeed mosquito larvae. No need to bleach anything, just dump them out. Any water left standing for any length of time can attract them, fish tanks too, though the fish usually eat them before you get to see them swimming around.
Reply:I can't quite tell (not a detailed enough picture), but it looks to me like either mosquito larvae or this other kind (can't remember the exact name).
Whatever they are, flush they and bleach the bowl ASAP. Maybe go through the bamboo roots also and remove anything that looks remotely like an egg cluster.
