I need to relocate some bamboo In Orlando,FL?

There is a bunch of bamboo bunches on my old property that I want to move to my new property. It dosnt all have to be moved I just want it to start gowing there. I was told before that you could cut the tops off or sprouts and just plant those and it will take off on its own with some watering. If anyone knows or could comment id appreciate it. Thanks again.

I need to relocate some bamboo In Orlando,FL?
If I am not mistaken Orlando has a sandy/loamy soil, if that is the case bamboo will root easily. Denser gumbo soils (heavy soils with higher clay content) require a little lightening with sterile sand or perlite in initial planting area.

Bamboo has a rhizome root system, with suckers producing new growth (lateral growth as opposed to tap roots). Any rhizome can be divided easily, maybe too easily, and will take root quickly.

Divide existing planting according to how much you want to take with a a garden pitch fork (you can use a shovel but it will suffer more damage). In new beds, dig a shallow hole and place bamboo in, lightly covering with soil, but not tamping down too much. Stake if the transplant is tall to prevent blowing over. Space apart as it will quickly fill in.

Bamboo is pretty indestructible, so don't fuss too much with transplanting, just feed and water during initial weeks of transplant and it will take over from there.

Hint, to keep bamboo (or any rhizome plant from spreading too much, place a metal or plastic barrier about 6 inches in depth, around the area you want to contain. Garden centers sell these at a low cost.
Reply:I think Bamboo is pretty, but I wouldnt plant is near the house. I can grow invasively once it takes root in a place. Another consideration is birds and animals like to nest in bamboo, which can bring diseases like histoplasmosis. This is how my brother got the disease.

Place the root ball at the same level it was when dug from the ground or pot. Do not add soil on top of the root ball. Bamboo rhizomes and roots are extremely sensitive to changes in their position relative to the surface of the ground. Planting deep is the main cause for lack of growth of transplanted bamboo. Usually people plant deep to prevent the bamboo from blowing over. If there is any chance of this, stake the plant but do not bury the root ball.Try to water the surrounding soil so that it keeps the root ball moist until the bamboo can spread its roots into the new soil. Mulch the top of the root ball very lightly. Too much mulch rots rhizomes and allows rodents to nest. Do not let mulch touch the large, as rodents will hide in it and eat both old and new shoots.

Good luck.

Where can I cut my bamboo houseplants? They are too tall.?

My bamboo houseplants are too tall. Can I cut them in the middle and have more plants from them?

Where can I cut my bamboo houseplants? They are too tall.?
If you want to prune them (they won't grown anymore), prune them just above a node (that's the place where the leaf stalks come out). That way you won't have a long piece that just collects water for mosquitoes to breed in and rots anyway. If you want to grow more bamboo, when it shoots up new shoots in spring, wait a month or so, get a shovel and hand pruners and dig it up. Cut the root underground (it's MUCH EASIER that way!). Then plant it and make sure to cut off the leaves so it doesn't lose too much water, and water it. Try to do this on a cloudy day so it doesnt' get stressed.

How do you transplant (?) Lucky Bamboo?

I have a 3-tiered Lucky Bamboo plant that is growing bigger all the time. It looks like it is getting too big for the little container it's in now. Should I put it in a bigger one, and should I loosen the ties that hold the tiers together? And is there a way to prune them? The stalks just keep getting longer and taller.

Apparently there is no need to transplant them.

Reply:They are not really bamboo plants and they do not need much root room to grow. People do transplant them for more stability. I would not loosen the ties.

How to look after a bamboo houseplant?

I was given a bamboo house plant as a gift and I don't know how to look after it.

How to look after a bamboo houseplant?
Most likely you have a Lucky Bamboo--not a Bamboo plant. The article below should help to take care of it. Personally I prefer growing the plant in water with a few river stones in the vase. Good luck! http://www.ehow.com/how_2037081_care-luc...
Reply:jujst water will work but they grow a lot healthier in soil. Don't use sink water because after a while, the calcium will build up on the canes and it looks like fungus. Don't put it in direct sunlight because that will burn the leaves.
Reply:It's probably not a bamboo but a Dracaena, a kind of palm whose stems are twisted and shaped into various shapes and sold as bamboos because they look very like. Feed and water well and you shouldn't have any problems.
Reply:It can live in either a vase with water or dirt that is kept moist.. easiest way is to put in a vase with some rocks or marbles and a few inches of water.. they need little light as well.. they are very easy to grow..
Reply:If you like it and you want to keep it it's easy to look after it.

If you don't like it and you don't want it dead because you'll probably feel guilty give it as a present to someone else.

However, the best way to look after it is to water it in time, to change the pot for a bigger one when necessary, etc ... A plant only needs light, water and... lots of attention

How do I save my Bamboo plant?

I bought a sort of bamboo bush that had no care guide. I re-potted in in beginner soil from the garden centre and in a much larger container. However recently all the outer stems and leaves have gone yellow. The soil is moist yet not water logged. What am I doing wrong ???

How do I save my Bamboo plant?
Way too much water.
Reply:It could just be transplant shock. Give it some time. It normally takes 2-3 weeks for it to bounce back. Don't fertilize until you see active new growth. It would help to keep it outside in partial shade or indoors at a bright window in that time. I can't be more specific since I don't know what species of bamboo it is. The link below might give you an idea of what your bamboo is as well as more information on how to take care of it. Hope this helps.

Which is the best direction to keep the bamboo tree in office, to get promotion etc.?
My Boss has very bad ideas about this :(((((((

Having a clump of bamboo on the left hand side of your home or office can signify the dragon which is highly auspicious however if it is planted at the back of the house bamboo signifies solid support and would be especially lucky for those involved in business. If bamboo planted near the front of the home, bamboo can attracts auspicious "Chi" flows. Grown everywhere else bamboo represents longevity and good health.
