Can you make furniture out of bamboo?

Can you make anything useful or decorative out of bamboo growing in your own yard? We have plenty in our yard and would love to build something out of it. Or does it have to go through technological processes before turning into furniture?

Can you make furniture out of bamboo?
Sure! just let it dry well (about 6 weeks) and then you can treat it with a spray-on clear coat to help keep it from cracking as much. It does tend to split when drilled or nailed, so be careful of that.
Reply:it depends on what you have planned. if you're going for curved lines, form them and let it dry. if straight lines. you'll need to dry it first. no chemical process needed for either
Reply:Yes, You sure can, but you'd need to lash it together with a strong twine, or if it's of a good size you could drill holes and use screws and nuts, but only in hidden places.
Reply:because it is a bit brittle and finicky when using nails or screws its best to tie your joints together with a rope of your choice and some glue. there's also the cut joint where the two crossing pieces are notched in a way that allows each piece to receive the other piece for added strength once they are tied together
