How do you propagate a bamboo plant? meaning how can i make two plants out of one?

I have a bamboo plant in my house and I would like to know if there is a way to make one plant into two. is there a way to do that without growing hormones. if so please explain how to cut it. thanks

The first responder is correct - IF it's actually Bamboo that you're talking about.



Since you say it's a plant in your house...I suspect what you have is "Lucky Bamboo", which is not bamboo at all, but Dracaena. Completely different, and not in the grass family, as bamboo is. And true bamboo - I've never heard of anyone growing it INSIDE their house...



I don't know how propogate Dracaena. But if you post a new question, saying "Lucky Bamboo" or Dracaena instead, you'll get people who hopefully can help you.
Reply:this is an easy one, and bamboo is one of the easiest plants to do it with. take it out of the pot, cut the roots keeping a good amount of roots together with the upper foliage. then just plant it in a new pot. put new soil in the new pot, then water, but not as much water as an established plant. it will take right off!!!



the old and the new plant will fill out to the size of there pots.
