In east Asia, bamboo is frequently used to replace wood timber. Since it grows about 100 times faster (100ft tall culms optimally can grow in one year) it is a much more environmentally friendly way to provide certain "wood" products like flooring, fencing, etc. Is it all imported or does anyone know of any attempt to grow it commercially here in the US?
Anyone tried growing lumber bamboo in the USA?
No one that I'm aware of apart from gardening operations.
