Can I plant my lucky bamboo?

I got it a couple years ago and it's huge. Can I plant it outside? Will it take over my yard like regular bamboo?

Can I plant my lucky bamboo?
Depends where you live. "Lucky Bamboo" is really a tropical plant called Dracena that normally grows in soil -- it has been heavily marketed as a Feng Shui plant growing in water.

It is not a true bamboo and will not take over your yard. It cannot take any frost so if you live in an area that gets winter, it will die. Being native to rain forest, it likes high humidity and part shade.
Reply:No it won't since it's not "bamboo" at all. It's a Dracaena that has stalks that look somewhat like bamboo.
Reply:Don't think so.
Reply:if it was in only water no do not plant it outside It would take a real long time for it to take over the yard clumping bamboo is not invasive
Reply:You might not want to plant it outside - it is bamboo and will take over....
