How do you keep a bamboo living?

A co worker gave me a bamboo tree to keep at my desk for good luck, do i water every week every month. and dose it need a certin type of food to keep in growing in a office setting

How do you keep a bamboo living?
Give it the same care you would grass. It is the same family
Reply:Bamboo really only needs water. I put some rocks in the bottom of a glass container, and just stick the shoots in. It grows like a weed!
Reply:keep it out of direct light and water once a week. direct light will kill it. a little miracle grow in the water won't hurt it.
Reply:Bamboo is a very hardy plant and you would have to work hard to kill it.

Give it the strongest source of light available, combo of sunlight %26amp; flourecent is good. Water it as is needed.

If its planted in water %26amp; gravel....water it as it evaporates to keep the level constant.

If its planted in soil..stick you finger in the soil, if it comes out dry with no soil...its time to water. You might have to water every 4-5 days or 2 weeks, it depends on how warm it is in the office.

If the Bamboo is not growing vigorously you don't need to give it plant food at all. But if you feel compelled....any general plant food like "Schultz" is okay.
