How do you get rid of bamboo??

I have a leafy bamboo that is growing along a 40 ft fence. I have tried spraying it with Roundup but it will not die. I have a rock ledge in front of the bamboo so digging it up is a tough job that I would like to avoid.

How do you get rid of bamboo??
I had the same job the last week in my house and I found this site very helpful... but it is a hard work.. good luck.. :-)

It is very VERY hard to get rid of completely.



And digging it up will be a tough job regardless of the rock ledge in front.
Reply:Bamboo is very, very hard to kill. You may have to totally dig it out. Sprays and other products won't kill it. If you chop it off it will grow back. The only way I can imagine is to totally dig out the roots... ouch. I've just given up on my bamboo problem. Bamboo is evil.
Reply:About the only way is to continually cut ALL the shoots as they appear. I am not sure that it's legal to keep a giant panda as a pet :(
Reply:I had the same problem. Nothing I tried killed it either. I spent 2 to 4 hours every day for an entire summer trying to dig mine up (about a 200 sq ft area) and I still couldn't keep up with it. I gave up and have since moved. (not because of the bamboo) Evil, evil stuff!!!!! Maybe burning it down will kill it };-)
