How should I clean bamboo furniture?

I just purchased som antique bamboo furniture that is really dusty. Is there any cleaners I should use and any cleaners I should avoid.

How should I clean bamboo furniture?
If the bamboo is finished, you can use murphy's oil soap. If it is unfinished, lightly oil with tong oil. You can treat bamboo the same way you would a wood piece.
Reply:A soft brush with a handle--with water--no chemicals--just dampen and rinse a lot. Don't have to get the brush soaked--just dampen. Rinse and shake a lot to keep the brush clean as you go about cleaning--do the top suface--turn over and do the bottom. Good luck
Reply:I would vacuum it first as best I could, and then take a damp sponge to it, using water only. Oftentimes bamboo is dyed, and you don't want to use really strong cleaners or solvents on it as they could lift the paint or stain. Use Q-tips to get into the corners and hard to reach spots. If you find you HAVE to use something to cut grease or dirt, try Ivory soap, or Murphy's Oil soap first.

Good luck to you! Enjoy your new old furniture!
