My new bamboo cutting board has a weird odor? is this normal?

will it go away? i've never had a wooden cutting board. I've always used plastic. Is this bamboo odor normal? I've tried to wash it and put lemon juice on it. it seems to be going away, but not sure..what do you think? Thanks.

Bamboo is a special kind of wood. (It's a renewable resource, by the way.)

New Bamboo does have a strange smell, but it does not transfer to your food, and it will fade after a while. It's just bamboo. You'll find it lasts better than most wooden spoons, or cutting boards.

Don't worry: It's normal, and it will fade.
Reply:We got a bunch of bamboo chopping boards for our wedding and they all smelt weird. That was 2 months ago now and the smell has completely gone. It never did anything weird to our food - and they are actually safer to use than plastic boards as the wood kills off the germs somehow! (I don't know - that's just one of the benifits we found out about when researching what kind of chopping boards would be best for some awesome new cutting knifes we got!) I wouldn't worry about it though... it's only bamboo - you can eat the stuff if you want!
Reply:That is weird, return it.
Reply:maybe sprinkle some baking soda on it and let it sit overnight...good luck
