WTF Can you die from eating a bamboo leaf?weird story but read and answer PLZ?

My mom said something about eating bamboo leaf from bamboo and i dont know if it is true but my mom said that if i eat it i will die or something and she told me this unbelievable story about my uncles brother son saw it and ate the leaf and then the boys Grandpa saw him layin dead and he couldnt believe it. And he saw the bamboo plant on the floor spilled with water and the rocks and he was even dumb enough to eat it himself (MAN HE IS DUMB ROFL) And he is dead also. So yea answer if u hav an answer. THX
