Do you put bamboo trees in soil or water?

is soil or water better for the bamboo tree? And how do you take care of it?

Do you put bamboo trees in soil or water?
You do get the 'lucky' bamboo which can be put in a vase of water like a bunch of cut flowers. They will then grow roots and new shoots, but eventually the water will not provide enough nutrients. All that is, is cut pieces of bamboo to use as an arrangement for the house.

Bamboo is really a plant for growing in soil outside. If you are thinking of doing that, then be careful as most bamboo plants spread very rapidly and will end up overtaking the garden.

You can plant them in a pot of soil, but again they will soon outgrow the pot.

Not much in the way of care is needed. Just water them every now and again and a general fertiliser once a year

Reply:I've seen lots of bamboo here in Florida and I have never ever seen any growing in water?? Plants drown in water because just like you they can't breathe. There are some plants that are aquatic that have adopted to live with roots submerged but I'm pretty sure bamboo is Not one of them.
