Question about bamboo?

when a bamboo plant sends outs shoots and rhizomes does it send out more than one rhizome.

in all diagrams i see there is only one shoot coming off of one rhizome

Question about bamboo?
well if they drew it the way it actually grows they wouldnt have enough room to show you how it grows.. silly..of course it has more than one.. take your "lawn" for instance.. when you pull it up is there more than one runner??same thing with the bamboo..

underground stems grow rapidly to varing distances from parent plant before sending up new shoots.
Reply:The size and age of the grove will determine how many rhizomes are sent out.

On a runner I have it sent out rhizomes over 15 feet long and along these appeared almost a several new shoots. If left to grow these new shoots will develop roots and shoot out more rhizomes. This is how bamboo becomes "invasive".

The diagrams usually show that for ease of explanation.
