Removal of Bamboo tubers?

I have a lot of bamboo growing around my land. I have cut back a 30 meter section but it keeps growing back. I have read somewhere if I keep cutting it back it will eventually die. So far I am cutting it each week and have done so for the last 4 weeks. Is there another way to kill it? The last owners of my house tried to remove it with a jcb digging out the tubbers but the roots go deep in the river bank and it didn′t work. I have allready tried setting fire to it!

This is the only way unfortunately there is no chemical and vinegar just won't do it.

There are three basic ways to do the job well and safely, all of which involve you first cutting the above ground growth to the ground repeatedly. Cut it all down, allow it to grow again; cut it all down again, let it grow again, etc. Two, three, four times—the more the better to deny the roots their solar energy collectors. In fact, if you just do this continual cutting for several years, the plants and roots will eventually die.

The lady with the landscaping company has no idea why people plant bamboo.

That is because MOST people don't know

(that includes many of the so called experts)

that there are only 2 types of bamboo but many kinds Running bamboo is your worst nightmare. That is probably what you have. Clumping bamboo is quite beautiful and it also comes in timber size.

Bamboo is the new wood......even though it is a grass...

EXCERPT:

Unluckily for bamboo, it has the reputation for being an invasive plant, growing from running rhizomes. Although this is true for some cultivars, the most cold-hardy plants don’t run at all, but grow from well-behaved clumps with well-established root systems.

Reply:The bamboo will not die on its own. You must dig it out of the ground. And keep digging....and keep digging. Each week, dig some more. When you see a shoot, dig it up. And then dig some more.

I have no idea why people plant bamboo, but they do.
Reply:Cut it to the ground and keep the area mowed.
