Any of various usually woody, temperate or tropical grasses of the genera Arundinaria, Bambusa, Dendrocalamus, Phyllostachys, or Sasa. Certain species of bamboo can reach

heights of from 20 to 30 meters (66 to 98 feet).



The hard or woody, jointed, often hollow stems of these plants, used in construction, crafts, and fishing poles.

Reply:I was just in Kaua'i, Hawaii, and they have it there! It is a tropical plant, or tree. Alot of people have smaller versions in their homes for decoration. It is believed that you should never have an even number of shoots in a container in your house, it is bad luck. Also each shoot is thought to symbolize something. eg:Love, wealth, health, wisdom, happiness etc. I love bamboo, and I have it in my home. Very easy house plant to take care of. You just keep adding room temperature spring water. It doesn't require much sunlight, it will grow under most conditions.
