What type of Bamboo for raised bed?

My bed is a 1'X15' X 3'- high raised cement planting bed. We are in zone 9 and it will get Southwest direct sun most of day. I am open to a Bamboo alternative as well. Screening and beauty are goals.

Don't plant outside unless you know what you're doing. Bamboo for Garden's by Ted Jordan Meredith on amazon is good. There is native bamboo species in the U.S. but that may or may not be the kind you will want to use. As said earlier make sure can't get out of contained area.
Reply:hmmm.. bamboo in a full enclosed raised planter.. ok. be sure the bottom doesn't let the rhizomes escape to your yard.. bamboo is non-native and invasive. If it gets out.. OMG.. you can't get rid of it.
Reply:OMG, you will hate yourself if you plant bamboo. It will take over your landscape. You'll find it poking up in the lawn. You'll step on it barefoot. You'll spend your life hacking it down but once it takes hold, it's there.

Consider something like a horsetail rush if you're in a humid area. They can look cool. There is a neat variagated variety.
