The bamboo in my backyard spread to the next door, is it my responsibility when it grows out of control?

My next door neighbor moved in when the bamboo already spread to their backyard, they haven't said anything yet. They might have no idea about the harm it will cause. but look at the the rate of growing, I'm worried. Should I do anything?

yep
Reply:Planting bamboo near a property line is not unlike pouring a couple of drums toxic waste on the ground near another person's property. You are free to mess up your own property but you know some is going to end up on the nearby property.

I personally think you are responsible. If you had done your home work, you should have known how invasive bamboo is. Knowing that, you shouldn't have planted it where it could invade someone else's property.

I think you owe your new neighbors some effort to help them eliminate it if they want it gone.

There are sites such as this one that might be some help.

Reply:yes it will be your responsibility. but, if your lucky your new neighbor may not realize it spread from your yard. or, maybe they would like having a bamboo forest take over their yard. "ya right" be prepared. it will be $$$$ to correct your mistake in planting the wrong bamboo.
Reply:It will be your responsiblilty if they do complain about it. Its like if a branch of a tree comes down on ur neighbors car, but its ur tree...then ur responsible. Whether or not u say anything is ur option but it will be an extensive removal process and also to KEEP it from coming back and continuing to grow to there property
Reply:you could offer to exterminate the bamboo.
Reply:I'm curious of how long it has taken to spread to your neighbor's property. How long have you had it in your yard?
