I have a bamboo floor in my bathroom and it has turned black under the bath mat -I'm assuming from water damage. The black seems to be ingrained into the wood - it almost looks burnt! No amount of scrubbing seems to be able to remove it. Has anyone seen this before and been able to remove it? I'm renting and dont want to replace the floor!

Its probably some sort of mold or mildew.
Try some kind of cleaner and let it dry out. You may have to get it reserfaced (sanded and relaquered) or replaced.
