How can your preserve bamboo?

i have a bamboo tree in my yard and would like to bring some stalks inside for decoration. however they die quickly and turn brown and i'd like to keep them in their vibrant green state. any suggestions? thanks!!!

How can your preserve bamboo?
I have tried everything to preserve the bamboo stalks and nothing works, they always turn brown when removed from the plant. However, the good news is that once they are dried out, you can paint them to return to that color. I've used both acrylic and latex with a lot of success and just tried spray painting one. If you use spray paint, however, I think you really need to come back over it with some acrylic, especially at the joints, because it just looks too "fake" being monochrome.
Reply:Why don't you get a live bamboo plant for in the house? They sell them all over they place these days.
Reply:The bamboo that you see in the garden is different from the ones that they sell in the store. They will not stay green for you once cut.

The store bought lucky bamboos are actually not bamboos at all, but part of the dracena family. These ones will root really easily. Buy yourself a lucky bamboo from your local florist. They don't like sun, and all you need is top it up with water once a week.
Reply:Bamboo needs watering everyday and cannot be exposed to dry heat. Key thing to bamboo is WATER. good luck!
