How do you stop bamboo from growing?

bamboo in my yard is growing out of control and i want it to stop i mow it every couple of days as it grows rapidly some of it grows 3-4 feet a DAY. crazy..........

How do you stop bamboo from growing?
Bamboo spreads underground by runners.Very fast growing like a weed.Mowing it will do nothing to stop it since it is still growing underground.It will take over the whole yard if you let it!You must dig it out by the roots .You will have to dig deep and put a barrier around the bamboo that you want to keep so the roots can't spread.If you want it totally out you'l have to keep diggin it out where ever it pops up.I know it's alot of work,Sorry.Hope I was helpful to ya anyway!

Reply:Cut and poison the stump immediately. It might take more than one application. Go to the home improvement store and get some Round Up or Brush B Gone (my preference) and DO NOT DILUTE it, regardless of what the label says. Buy the one that has the highest concentration of the "active ingredient", apply that with a paintbrush you don't care about anymore, don't dump it because you'll spill too much out unnecessarily and waste it. Also, don't touch it. This stuff is bad for you too.



Do it again in a week or two if it didn't completely kill it the first time. Been there, done that.
Reply:You are right, it grows fast. The only way to grow bamboo and contain it is to dig a hole twice the size of a grave and line it with concrete blocks, fill it with the dirt you took out and you'll have a beautiful bamboo corner. I know that isn't what you asked-the only thing to do is continue cutting it down. Ours are from 4 ft to 20 ft. we use it for curtain rods, I have one on the porch I use to hang wet clothes on, the smaller ones are great for holding up plants. So you might want to consider letting it go-its a great light diffuser-I have it planted in front of a window to divert some sunshine. Check online, apparently there are products to kill it.

agree with other comments.. the simplest way to do it is to dig hole around the bamboo %26amp; put stones/ concrete lining so that the bamboo can't grow..
