Pruning Back Water-Deprived Bamboo Plant?

Just came home from a long w/end away to find my 2 outdoor, planted in container bamboo plants all dried up. Am so depressed, they were so lush and beautiful -- about 6 ft. each. The weather here in Paris has been in the 80's and they get about 5 hrs.direct sunlight a day.

I watered them and the leaves a day later are dried up. The stalks are green with some browness around the nodes.

So, can they be brought back to life? How should I cut them back? Just remove the dead leaves and leave the stalks or do those need to be cut down too. Any help from green thumbs out there DEEPLY appreciated.

Hopefully the roots didn't dry out. If this happened they are a goner for certain.

However, it could be that they were pot bound and therefore choked themselves out. I had this happen to a bamboo last year that got plenty of water and was partially shaded. It just up an one day died, and when removed from the pot it was evident that the bamboo had needed to either be potted up or divided into two plants.

What I would suggest is watering it daily for a week. If the bamboo is still alive and well you should start to see new leaves developing from the branches.

Did the culms lose their color? If these too turned brown and brittle then signs would not be good for the bamboo.
