How can I stop bamboo from spreading throughout my yard.?

A previous owner of my house planted a small patch of bamboo. It seems to travel underground and pop up around my yard. How can I stop that or kill it off completely without ruining the lawn and other nearby plants.

How can I stop bamboo from spreading throughout my yard.?
If you leave ANY of it, it will continue to spread. You CAN kill it with brushkiller. Just spray the plants or brush a little bit of it on the leaves of each plant. It WILL die!....even the roots.
Reply:find a panda who owes you a favor
Reply:Organic method

Cut it to to the ground

Put a cardboard box on it
Reply:Inject with a syringe strong fertilizer you'll burn it with chemicals. You won't hurt anything around it, and as the roots slowly decompose, it will also feed your lawn.
Reply:dig some up and eat it
Reply:you either have to dig ALL of it out....or dig it BACK to where you want to keep it and bury 18"-2' of metal or plastic sheeting in the ground in front of it. The sheeting should keep it from spreading.
