How to cut a bamboo hedge?

What power tool should I use to cut a bamboo hedge? I am not sure about using a good hedge trimmer. Is there a special powr tool?

How to cut a bamboo hedge?
Tie the bamboo together in a clump so that it doesn't bounce around when you're cutting it and try a chainsaw.

If you're really brave you could use what the natives use and resort to a sharp machete.
Reply:I think you're going to have to do it by hand, with a big pair of loppers. The hollow stems are too dangerous to cut with power tools.

I found a site that gives directions and shows how to do it,, so have a look and see what you think.

I hope this helps......
Reply:I have a bamboo hedge that i've slowly been trying to kill for the last three years. The only thing i've found that will work is pruners or loppers for the big stuff, because it's hollow on the inside. Also, it's got a wicked hard stem. You could probably try a chainsaw but I don't think electric hedge trimmers would get it.
Reply:You may be able to use a chain saw, depending on how thick your stems are. I doubt that electric hedge trimmers would work on bamboo. Your best bet is those big loppers, they have about 2 foot handles, most have curved blades. Bamboo can be very invasive, if you are trying to get it under control, you may need to be more aggressive.
