If i cut a bamboo plant in half, can you regrow the half you cut off?

my bamboo plant i bought is too big to take on a plane, so i cut it in half.. will the top half that i cut off regrow if i replant it?

You can do that. It's a bit risky though as the cane may become infected and rot. Be sure that you use a sterile knife and dip the cut end in alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.
