Growing David Bisset Bamboo in Northern Va?

Hi, I am interested in growing david bisset bamboo culms at the end of my .8 acre backyard for privacy purposes. How do you go about purchasing david bisset bamboo plants and growing them, and also what steps should i take to make sure they grow as well as possible?

That species is cold hardy and will grow in your area.

It's an aggressive runner, though. You need to contain it, or you'll be sorry in about 3 years.

And by "contain" I mean more than a circle of that bed liner people put between their grass and flower beds tha's about 6-8" deep. Excavate, and use pond liner (with a couple drainage holes in the middle), or use sunken containers that are oer a foot deep. Then every fall, go around the outside, and cut all the bits that are trying to make a break for it.
