This bamboo has been growing in my back yard since I can remember, and I've lived at this residence for 25+ years. There have been spots of it growing through the neighborhood, so this is not an isolated case of self-planted bamboo. However, my neighbor feels she needs to get a Real Estate lawyer and SUE me because the wild bamboo growing in my back yard has years later started creeping into HER yard.
What I'd like to know if any of you have legal expertise: In a Real Estate Suit, Who's responsibility is it to deal with HER bamboo? I personally dont feel I am liable for an act of nature.,. I am a 50+ year old single woman, barely able to make it financially on my own, let alone be expected to finance the expense of professionally removing 10 foot tall bamboo growing in my back yard.
I'd appreciate any details anyone can give me.... Please, answerers, If you're just looking to critisize for the fun of it, go elsewhere, I'm looking for tips, not unconstructive backlash...Thx!
How do I deal with angry neighbors and uncontrollable bamboo growth....?
I feel for you -- invasive bamboo is a nuisance that is very difficult to eradicate. Check with your county or state agricultural services and find out if the type of bamboo you have is classified as a noxious weed in your area. If so, it's possible you could be required to remove it (depends on the laws in your area). They can advise you on steps you can take, and possibly gives some advice on the situation with your neighbor.
Reply:Unless your bamboo is growing over the property line, its HER problem. If she sues though, you will have to go to court. if you don't show, she wins by default, take lots of pics showing its not your bamboo.
Reply:wow, she sounds nuts, if its growing in her yard, its her problem, tell her if she pushes this lawsuit (if she can even find a lawyer who will take the case) that you will counter to recover you expenses and for mental anguish, that might make her think twice about continuing. good luck
Reply:The bamboo is HER responsibility. You can remove all or none of which is growing in your yard. The fact that she wants to sue you over it sounds like an open threat, honestly. I would try writing her a letter explaining your side of the story so not to have face to face contact with her.
