Lucky bamboo yellow?

My sister gave me a stalk of five lucky bamboo she bought at chinatown. It went well for about four months but then one of the stalks turned yellow and two other turned to a light green color. After reading a couple of question I potted my plant and hoped. Then the stalk started to get mushy. I read a bit more and assume i watered it too much. but then a answer said it was dead. so i pulled it out of the soil to throw it away. at the bottom of the plant it turn back to a light shade of green. should i keep it for a few more weeks and hope or throw it away? and how should i treat it from now on till it get better? (i don't have fertilizer)

Lucky bamboo yellow?
Lucky Bamboo is not really bamboo at all, but a type of Draceana, and needs light, fertilizer, and stones or polished glass to root onto. It will always fade when left in water with no fertilizer. Use a 10-10-10 water soluble fertilizer to green it up.

A cheap little bottle of Shulz's will do the trick. It sounds like maybe you have root rot from planting it too deep above the crown of the plant. Cut it back if there is any 'hard' stem left. It should leaf out again. Most houseplants only need watering when the top 1-2 inches of soil get dry.
Reply:Very interesting information at this link. I think you will enjoy reading all about your pretty bamboo:
