Molding Bamboo Trays...How do we remove the mold??
Get a spray bottle and put 2 teaspoons tea tree oil into it and fill with 12 ounces water. Shake, spray it on, let sit a few minutes, then wipe it off. Set in the sun to dry and everything will be perfect.
Reply:Buy a cleaning product that is a fungicide (I like a product called Odo Ban from Sams Club) Mix it according to directions and spray it on the trays first in an inconspicuous place to make sure it won't discolor the bamboo. If this first test goes well spray the mixture all over the trays and let sit for 10 minutes. After ten minutes scrub with a brush and rinse off well followed by a thorough drying. Repeat the spraying, scrubbing, rinsing and drying one more time for tow complete cleanings. After cleaning keep these trays in an area where the humidity is below 50% because mold can't grow in these conditions. (you can check this with a humidity meter you buy at any hardware store)

Now for your attic - you should check the humidity level there also and if it is above 50% correct it with ventilation or a dehumidifier. ALso check the wood in your attic because mold eats wood and will destroy your roof. If you find mold there you should really call in a mold remediation specialist to make sure it is handled correctly - the integrity of your home depends on it.

Reply:a friend of mine had something like this happen to all of her wicker baskets and such. She had taken them outside in the driveway, and filled a spray bottle from dollar general (1.00) for it there, and put in 3 oz of bleach and filled it to the top with water, sprayed them let them dry, checked them again to see if they needed to be resprayed again. Now she did this during the heat of the day.

hope this helps
