I have a couple stalks of those Bamboo Plants you grow inside. I just have them in a glass vase with water in it and some glass stone on the bottom so the roots have a place to hang on to. I've seen some of the plants in stores that the stalks curl. Do they do this on their own or do you have to train the plant to do it? If so How?
Houshold Bamboo Plant?
How did the stick get curl? - You can make it curl like farms do when the stick is fresh and young. Bamboo actually only grows straight and does not grow curl. Farmers have to put the bamboo in the dark vases, let them grow towards the light and rotate them periodically, more work, more curl.
Will they grow taller? - No, all the sticks got special treatment when they reached the shape and length needed. They only keep growing green leaves and stay green in either water or soil.
What is the key to keep them alive forever? - Don't every let water dry out !
Reply:i have a bendy bamboo i bought mine already like it ... they train them to go like that before they sell them .. hope this helps
Reply:i know of dozens of variety of bamboo and dozens of sub specious. i've never come across houshold bamboo? bambo can be divided into two types. running and clumping. never, ever plant running type. you will pay for it the rest of your life. i've seen people loose their homes and property over poor planning when bamboo is involved. even if you attempt to contain running bamboo ib a container, it can and will escape. your neighbors can and will sew.
