Some references suggest several cytokinins and agar. I have IBA from Rootone powder %26amp; I can get agar - but I'm wondering from where I can order what's best for propagating bamboo - esp. Muso variety which is 4 inch diameter when mature %26amp; tolerates minus 10 degree temperatures - and slow to propagate by divisions. I can get samples from local bamboo grove. I've never seen how to collect the growing tissue from internodes or branches.
I'm also trying to learn how to propagate Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadiensis) which doesn't produce many seeds %26amp; is slow to propagate by divisions. Its' mature roots have value for organic cattle feeds and for natural dye uses. I think I can get growing plants this year and seeds (maybe next season). I sure would like to find a good Tissue Culture bibliography relevant to these species. Thanks very much for your suggestions.
How do you propagate Bamboo with tissue culture sterile solutions %26amp; what auxins are best?
try the link for bamboo
bloodroot roots probably aren't a good thing to feed to cattle
Sanguinarine concentrated in the root kills animal cells through its action on the Na+-K+-ATPase transmembrane protein. Epidemic dropsy is a disease that results from ingesting sanguinarine. this info from wikipedia.
