when doing dt our teacher doesn't know whether it is or isn't and therefore we need to know
Is bamboo a hard or soft wood?
Is bamboo a hard or soft wood?
Bamboo is from the grass family that is why it is so fast growing and makes a great renewable resource. It is as hard as Maple and 50% more stable and harder than Red Oak. It has a higher hardness rating than most hardwoods.
Reply:hard on the outside soft in the middle
Reply:It's not a wood it's a grass.
It's soft when it's growing and hard and brittle once it's dried.
It is incredibly strong and flexible up to a point, then it shatters.
Reply:id say hard, as when i tried to drill into it, it broke the drill bit xx
Reply:Technically, it's a grass.
Reply:Bamboo is one of the hardest woods on the planet is it not? thats why samrai sword makers test the swords on bamboo stems to see if the sword can cut through bone *apparently bones a lot softer than the bamboo hehe :P
Reply:Bamboo is not a wood it's classified as a grass.
Reply:bamboo isnt a wood i dont think.but if i had to categorise it id say its softwood.
Reply:bamboo is not a wood its a reed
Reply:Its hard but not wood. I think its a reed....
Reply:It is a hard reed from the grass family, it is the fastest growing plant used in building, it is used in flooring and other building materials, I am an architect and right now the building Im working on has plans for bamboo flooring, it is really beautiful and very durable. It can grow really tall and fast and if not controlled can spread really fast too.
Reply:All I know is that it hurts when you get hit over the head with it - it must be hard!!!
